Reflections
This A3 Venture assignment was extremely engaging and thought provoking for me. What I loved most about this assignment was it’s purpose of making us appreciate the process of bringing life to an idea. Regardless of the final output, the journey / hardship of finding a niche and the contemplation of its purpose of existence (or demand) was what I took from this project most. As a newly self-proclaimed inventor, I learned to leverage the skills, interests, and knowledge that I have to create a product that is meaningful to me and the field in which I reside professionally in. On a more technically level I believe I have better refined the craft of being an EVA, and now more fully understand the requirements of what it entails. I have fully embraced all the theories put forth in this class in this project to create a product which I am proud of and believe has both financial and social value. With regards to weaknesses or areas in which I can improve on, I believe I still have much to learn regarding the venture “ask” element. Financials are loosely based and unsubstantiated with more concrete facts. Market segments could be further supported by live statistical data or deeper market research. Finally the elevator pitch, which was limited to a minute, was extremely difficult to meet all objectives; interest, need / purpose, and ask. As a whole, I felt this project was extremely valuable for me as an educator, innovator, entrepreneur, and student. Two thumbs up on this project.
